Just off on a tangent, there's a couple of CD's of Neil covers available
here in Australia, I don't know if you've seen them in the U.S. One is
"The Neil Diamond Songbook", the other is definitely an Australian
produced CD called "Diamonds". Each CD has about 25 Neil songs covered by
various artists, notable tracks include "The Boy With the Green
Eyes","That New Boy in Town", Tony Tribe's reggae version of "Red Red
Wine" (leaves UB40 in the dust), "Sunflower", and all sorts of bizzare
cover versions you never wanted to hear (Sonny and Cher, Hot Chocolate,
Deep Purple, etc)

It came out on 45, I can't remember what the flip side is but I have it
at home.(Much better than the live version IMHO). Here in Australia I think
it was also available as a track on an Alan Jones (radio DJ) compilation CD,
I'll investigate and see what I can find out.
