Do You Know Your Christmas Colors?
Red & Green are the first colors that come to mind when we think of Christmas.
Red for Santa's costume, candles, decorations, the warmth of family gatherings, the cheeks of children waiting patiently for their gifts, cardinals in the snow, poinsettias in all their glory.
Green for the perfect Christmas tree in the living room, for the evergreens decked in snow outside our windows, shiny bunches of holly, the promise of springtime.
White is also a traditional color of Christmas, the sparkling white of freshly fallen snow, putity, the birth of Jesus.
Gold can also be found everywhere at Christmas time; wrapping paper, candles and other decorations (gold painted pine cones and nuts, tinsel). Gold is the color of the star on top of the Christmas tree symbolizing the star of Bethlehem, of light, of hope and optimism.
Give your home a festive air by plkaying with all these colors. The warmth of red, the dignity of gold, the freshness of green and the purity of white will harmonize beautifully to produce the atmosphere you wish for. Candles, garlands and lights will create the magic of Christmas in your home.
These colors can also play a role on the table during the Christmas meal. Tablecloth, plates, cutlery and accesories can all help to evoke the traditions of yesteryear. A big white tableclot and red or dark green placemats will create a stunning contrast and an arrangement of flowers with evergreen branches and candles would be the perfect finishing touch.
